Lock track defaults for faster releases

Lock genre, artist, privacy, permissions, and other fields so every new upload inherits your usual settings — unlock anytime to edit one-off tracks.

If you release often with the same artist name, genre, privacy, or permissions, use locked defaults so you don’t retype them every time.

How locking works

1. Open any track’s details and set the field the way you usually want it (for example genre = Electronic, privacy = Public).
2. Click the lock icon next to that field. It turns locked; the value is saved as your tenant default.
3. New tracks you upload inherit locked values. Locked fields stay fixed when you Save (you can’t overwrite them until you unlock).
4. Click the lock again to unlock and edit freely on that track.

What you can lock

Fields that stick on SoundCloud and appear on the form, including: artist, genre, description, tags, privacy, license, label, buy-link fields, downloads, comments, embed, app playback, display comments, and display stats.

Tips

• Lock only what is truly the same every release — leave title, unique ISRCs, and one-off release titles unlocked.
• Defaults apply to new uploads; change a default by unlocking, editing, and locking again (or unlock permanently if you no longer want a default).
