How to connect Facebook to Rollout
Plain steps for non-technical artists: get two free codes from Facebook, paste them into Rollout, then log in once to connect your music Page.
Rollout can post release announcements to a Facebook Page — the public page for your band or artist name. It does not post to your personal Facebook profile (the one with friends and family).
You only do the long part once. After that, connecting is a normal Facebook login.
What you need
- The Facebook account that looks after your music Page.
- A Facebook Page for your music (not just a personal profile).
- About 10–15 minutes the first time. A computer is easier than a phone for this.
If you don’t have a Page yet
- On Facebook, create a Page for your music (band / artist / public figure).
- Make sure you can manage that Page with the account you’ll use below.
Part 1 — Get two free codes from Facebook (one time)
Facebook requires this. It’s free and you do not need a credit card.
- Open developers.facebook.com and click Get Started (or Log In). Use the same Facebook account that manages your Page.
- Click My Apps (top right) → Create App.
- When it asks what kind, choose Business. Name it anything (example: My Music Posts). Click through until it’s created.
“Business” here just means “for a band or brand Page,” not that you run a company. - On the home screen, find Facebook Login and click Set up or Add.
- Also find Instagram (the button may say Instagram Graph API — that is the exact name Facebook uses) and click Set up / Add.
- In the left menu: Facebook Login → Settings. Find the box for return addresses (Facebook may call it “Valid OAuth Redirect URIs”).
- In Rollout, open Social → ⚙ Connections, select Facebook, and use the Copy this address button. Paste that address into Facebook’s box and click Save.
- In the left menu: Settings → Basic. Copy App ID (a long number) and App Secret (click Show first).
- Back in Rollout, paste both into the two boxes and click Save these codes.
Leave any “Go live” or “Live mode” switch off. You only need this for your own Page.
Part 2 — Connect your Page (about 1 minute)
- Still on Social → Connections, click the orange Connect with Facebook button.
- A Facebook window opens — log in like normal.
- When it asks which Page to allow, tick your music Page (not your personal profile).
- If it asks about Instagram, say yes if you use Instagram too.
- Keep clicking Continue / Allow until you return to Rollout. You should see a green connected label.
- Click Send a test post, then open your Facebook Page and check it appeared.
Also using Instagram?
Instagram has its own sign-in now. Select Instagram and click Connect Instagram — you do not need a Facebook Page. Full steps: How to connect Instagram.
If something goes wrong
- No Connect button — finish Part 1 and click Save these codes first.
- Paste failed — copy App ID and App Secret again from Settings → Basic. Don’t leave out characters.
- Worked before, fails now — click Disconnect, then Connect with Facebook again.
