How to connect Bluesky to Rollout
Post release announcements to your own Bluesky account using a special app password (not your everyday login password).
This posts a short announcement (and your cover when possible) to your Bluesky account — the one fans follow. Rollout does not post from a shared Rollout account.
Only set this up if you already use Bluesky. If your fans are mostly on Facebook and Instagram, start there instead.
Important
You will create an app password. That is not the password you use to log into Bluesky every day. App passwords are safer: you can turn them off without changing your main password.
Part A — On Bluesky (about 2 minutes)
- Open Bluesky and sign in to your account.
- Go to Settings.
- Open Privacy and security (wording can vary slightly by app version).
- Find App Passwords and create a new one. Name it something like Rollout.
- Copy the app password Bluesky shows you. You usually only see it once — paste it into Rollout right away.
Part B — In Rollout
- Open Social → ⚙ Connections.
- Tap Bluesky under Choose your networks.
- Enter your handle (for example
yourname.bsky.social). - Paste the app password (not your normal login password).
- Click Connect Bluesky, then Send test post.
- Check your Bluesky profile for the test post.
If something goes wrong
- Won’t connect — you almost certainly used your regular password. Make a new app password and try again.
- Worked before, fails now — the app password may have been turned off. Create a new one and reconnect.
- Bluesky posts are short — write a tight announcement so it is not cut off.
